EXPLORER.
ENGINEER.
PhD STUDENT.
AbOUT ME
Hello, I'm Sheng Yao (William).
Ph.D. Student in Mechanical Engineering
Born in Guangzhou (Canton), a mega city located in Guangdong, China, I consume books about faraway places and dreamed about traveling all the continents, and I am always keen on exploring the world as well as its fascinating beauty. Though I live in this amazing Cantonese city since I was born, I am seeking opportunities to experience diverse cultures and different lifestyles.
Through years of building up the solid foundation of professional knowledge in the field of mechanics and electronics, I have received my bachelor degree from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in Mechatronics Engineering. Due to excellent grades, I was recommended for admission to be a postgraduate without examinations in SCUT.
Now I am working in Nonlinear Systems Control Laboratory at University of Toronto as an joint Ph.D. student. In the home country, I am with the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Precision Equipment and Manufacturing Technology (PEMT), SCUT. I'm passionate about robotics and machine vision, and I am glad that I can study deeply in this exciting field. Most importantly, these explorations and adventures of sciences and lives can contribute to a better understanding of this world as well as being a better man.
